The Uniform Project

This isn't so much weird as it is unique. The Uniform Project was founded by Sheena Matheiken in 2009. The Uniform Project website states, "[Sheena was]...pledging to wear one little black dress for 365 days as an exercise in sustainability and a fundraiser to support the Akanksha Foundation – a non-profit organization providing education to children living in Indian slums. And for the next year, Sheena reinvented her uniform solely using accessories that were either vintage, handmade, reused or donated." Such a great idea to use fashion for philanthropy - or even just to save money!

This year, The Uniform Project has launched a Pilot Series featuring a new participant in the fashion challenge on the first each month. March has highlighted a dress by the mother-daughter, fashion design duo Carasan (previous blog post). Modeled by Summer Rayne Oakes of Sustainability Innovation Consulting the styling of the dress (8 days shown bellow) can be seen here.
